Renovation
into Arts Studio. Artists from Michigan relocated to
Siler City and purchased this turn of the century (19th that is!)
building that was the old jewelery store. We found mold, asbestos
and wood rot, all of which needed to be completely removed. Much
of the old walls, the floor, and the front and back entranceway
were replaced. The basement was filled with water, and had to
be drained, sealed and pipes diverted to ensure a dry basement
in the future. A lift was installed to allow wheelchair access
to the basement, which became a workshop for the artist to create
as well as lots of storage for other art pieces. This project
was done with Harvey Harman of Earth Renewal Shelter.
